Highway 44 is one of the most important transportation corridors in our community, but it has not kept pace with the growth our area has experienced over the years. Increased traffic volumes, congestion, and safety concerns affect residents, businesses, and visitors every day.
The need to improve Highway 44 is not just a local issue-it is a regional and state priority. Investing in roadway improvements will enhance safety, reduce travel times, support economic development, and better accommodate future growth. Families should be able to travel to work, school, and home safely and efficiently, and businesses need reliable transportation infrastructure to remain competitive.
I will urge and work with state and county leaders to prioritize improvements to Highway 44 and partner with local communities to address the challenges that continue to grow along this corridor. Our residents have demonstrated their commitment to this region through its continued growth and success. Now it is time for the transportation infrastructure to keep pace.
Improving Highway 44 is an investment in public safety, economic opportunity, and the future of our community.
Growth can bring new opportunities, but it must be managed responsibly. As your next Mayor, I believe our first obligation is to the residents who already call our city home.
Before approving additional large-scale developments, we must ensure that our roads, utilities, public safety services, and other essential infrastructure can adequately support the growth we have already experienced. When infrastructure falls behind development, residents pay the price through increased traffic congestion, strained services, and declining quality of life.
Our community deserves a thoughtful approach that balances growth with the capacity of our infrastructure. That means investing in road improvements, expanding utility capacity, addressing drainage concerns, and ensuring our police, fire, and emergency services have the resources they need to serve a growing population.
I support growth that is planned, sustainable, and beneficial to our community. However, growth should not outpace our ability to provide the services and infrastructure that residents expect and deserve.
The future of our city depends not only on how much we grow, but on how well we prepare for that growth. By prioritizing infrastructure improvements today, we can build a stronger, safer, and more prosperous community for generations to come.
